Clarenville Area will hold their 6th Annual Service and Parade on Sunday,
September 28th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anglican Church, Port Blandford.
The Service will be conducted by Reverend Jesse Broaders and RCMP (Retired)
Sgt. Al Bert will be the parade commander, the parade will also include a
color party.
We will have participation from the churches in the Clarenville area and
again this year this event will be organized by Correctional Officer Elywin
Burke (H.M.P.) and Cpl. Rupert Baker (RCMP). This year our Parade and
Service will be hosted at a different venue in our area in a way to educate
others in our area as to our cause.
Departments taking place will be RCMP, HMP, DFO, High Sheriffs, Clarenville
Municipal Police, Gander Municipal Police, F.R.A., Military Police Gander,
Terra Nova National Park Warden Service along with several veterans from the
RCMP/RNC.
Members will take part in the service readings and the Honour Roll will be
called and after each name is read a bell will toll. Each Member taking part
will lay a Black Ribbon at the alter as a remembrance to all who have fallen
and made the ultimate sacrifice.
This year it is planned to visit the gravesite of Constable William Moss -
Newfoundland Constabulary who was laid to rest in Port Blanford. We will lay
a wreath and participate in prayer and have moment of silence.
Special guests will include MHA Ross Wiseman - Trinity North and MHA Paul
Oram - Terra Nova, Judge Randolph Whiffen, Crown Prosecutors Office, along
with Mayors and other guests from the Clarenville area.
